Optical Microscopes
You'll likely have used optical microscopes before. These use light to form the image that you see.
- The optical microscopes maximum resolution is 0.2μm (micrometres), so you can't see ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum or lysosomes with this type of microscope.
- You might be able to see mitochondria, but not in detail.
- The maximum magnification of an optical microscope is around 1500x.
