Plant and animal cells release energy from glucose
Plant and animal cells respire - releasing energy from glucose.
- This energy is used for biological processes like metabolic reactions.
There are two types of respiration.
At GCSE, you would have looked at two types of respiration.
- aerobic respiration - respiration using oxygen
- anaerobic respiration - respiration without using oxygen.
The products of anaerobic respiration are carbon dioxide, water and energy.
Anaerobic respiration is a little more complicated.
