The pulmonary ventilation rate, or PVR, is essentially the calculation of the ventilation rate.
- It is the volume of gas entering or leaving the lungs during a specific period.
- It can be calculated by multiplying the volume of gas (either inhaled or exhaled) during a breath (or the tidal volume) by the amount of actual breaths in that time (the breathing rate)
