Lesson 9: Genome (recap)

What is a genome?

Carrying on with some quick topic 4 revision, a genome is an organism's complete set of DNA. Virtually every single cell in the body complains a complete copy of nearly 3 billion DNA base pairs.

  • With its 4-letter language (A, T, C and G), DNA contains the information needed to build every cell in the entire human body!
  • As we've explored before, the gene traditionally refers to the unit of DNA that carries instructions for making specific proteins (or set of proteins).
