Interphase is subdivided into three growth stages called G1, S and G2.
- In G1, cell growth happens.
- In S, DNA synthesis happens (DNA is unravelled and replicated).
- In G2, the cell grows some more before the mitotic phases begin.
During interphase, cells undergo normal activities as well as their preparation to divide.
- DNA is unravelled and replicated
- Organelles are replicated
- ATP content is increased (to provide energy for cell division)
