What's a Eukaryotic cell?
Eukaryotes are any cell or organism that has a clearly defined nucleus, and a nuclear membrane that surrounds it. They form eukaryotes - mostly multi-cellular organisms (plants, animals, fungi and protists).
We'll learn more on this later, but there are 4 eukaryotic kingdoms: animalia, plantae, fungi and protista.
and a Prokaryotic cell?
A prokaryotic cell is any cell that doesn't have a distinct nucleus as it doesn't have internal membranes. They can be split into two groups, archaea and bacteria.
The only thing you need to know about archaea is that when they were first discovered, they were classified as bacteria until several unique properties were discovered that separated them from known bacteria.
Most bacteria have a cell wall, containing peptidoglycan or murein.
