The pellet contains the nuclei and the supernatant contains a lot of other things.
- The supernatant is poured into another tube and then centrifuged at a higher speed.
- The ultracentrifugation continued until all the organelles are separated.
The organelles are separated by mass in the following order, from heaviest to lightest:
- Chloroplasts
- Mitochondria
- Lysosomes
- Endoplasmic reticulum
- Ribosome
